Applying for SA PREP
Applications for the summer SAPREP session are sent out to schools in early November. First-time applicants enrolled as 6th through 9th grade (fall/spring school year) and are interested in applying for the following summer SAPREP session, should contact their school counselor in November or contact the SAPREP Central Office and request a copy.
Applications for Year 2 and YEAR 3 PREP are mailed in early November directly to students who have successfully completed a previous PREP session. If you have not received your application by mid-December, or if you have any questions, please call the SAPREP Central Office.
Invitations to apply for Year 4 and/or UPREP will be mailed out to students that successfully completed their Year 3 PREP session. Students that are high school freshmen for the fall semester will only be invited to apply for Year 4. Students that are high school sophomores or juniors for the fall semester will be invited to apply for either Year 4 or UPREP. If you have not received your invitation by mid-December or if you have any questions, please call the SAPREP Central Office.
Online Application Option: Applicants are encouraged to fill out an application online. The online process is performed through a secure connection and saves time in processing your application. Once the online application is submitted a confirmation page is displayed with information for the upcoming summer session. A printed and signed confirmation page must be returned along with a copy of your official report card to the PREP office to complete your application. The deadline to return your confirmation page and report card to the SA PREP Office is January 31, 2017.
Grade Release and TEA Credit
If you have completed at least one summer component of the PREP program and would like to request your PREP transcript to be mailed to you or your school, please download the form below. Please print the form and mail it back to our office. Phone or e-mail requests will not be accepted as we need an original signature for our records.
Important Note: If this grade is released to the district/school in order to obtain credit toward graduation, it will be calculated into the student’s Grade Point Average (GPA) upon graduation from high school and will impact the student’s final GPA. PREP is not to be considered as an Honors or Advanced Placement course which will produce a weighted grade.
Transcript requests are processed at the UTSA PREP department on the 1st and 3rd Friday of each month.
The Texas Education Agency (TEA) has authorized students receive one elective credit toward high school graduation for each summer session that is successfully completed. The authorization letter can be downloaded by clicking on the link below.
